Which Cars Are Stolen Most Often?
2009-10-21
Each year the NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau) compiles a list of which cars are stolen most often. The most recent list was compiled for 2008 and released in August 2009.
The most stolen cars in the nation for 2008 are listed below:
1996 Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee
1994 Acura Integra
1999 Ford Taurus
2002 Ford Explorer
1997 Ford F-150 Pickup
2004 Dodge Ram Pickup
2000 Dodge Caravan
1994 Honda Accord
1995 Honda Civic
1989 Toyota Camry
Thieves like older cars because they can be stripped down for parts. The sum of the parts can be sold for more than twice the cars worth. Older cars are also easier to steal than newer cars since newer cars most often come with anti-theft technology.
