Keep An Inventory Of Your Home

2009-10-20

When you least expect it, fire or theft can occur. It is extremely import to have an accurate list of your possessions along with cost and proof of owning the items.

Many individuals put off making this list. I cannot stress how important this is when the time comes to submit a claim to your insurance company. In addition to the list, you should take pictures of all items and keep these pictures outside the home, preferably in a safety deposit box. You may also want to take a Video recording of all your possessions. Don’t forget that you will be asked for receipts, so make copies and also put them in the safety deposit box.

The list should include items from all rooms in the home, including but not limited to:

-       Art work

-       Jewelry

-       Antiques

-       Electronic equipment

-       Sporting goods

-       Clothing

If the need arises, you will now be prepared. This will cause less stress and make the process much easier.
